Launched in 2016, The World’s Table is passionate about culture and travel as they pertain to food and food’s unifying effects. By chronicling experiences – home or abroad, cooking or eating – my goal is to celebrate the culture, diversity, and creativity of fellow food lovers around the world.
Since I was a kid growing up in Dallas, TX, I have always loved food. Aside from needing it to live, I associate food with comfort, friends, family, unity, entertainment, and adventure. When it came time for college, I packed up and moved to Austin, TX and went to the University of Texas at Austin (Hook ‘Em!). Despite having a small food budget as a student, I fell in love with the culinary scene in Austin. The variety in taste, pricing, and levels of hipster-ness makes Austin a unique food mecca. After 8 years in Austin, my wife, two dogs (Miles and Dewey), and I moved back to Dallas.
Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to travel more, which is my inspiration for The World’s Table. So far, I have visited Australia, Costa Rica, Chile, Mexico, and Spain to name a few. It has amazed and intrigued me how different cultures treat food and the events that surround food – everything from the types of food, to table manners, to the pace of meals.
As I continue my travel to new countries or return to previously-visited favorites, I look forward to emerging myself in the culture, connecting with locals, and stuffing my face with the best fare they have to offer.
When I am not traveling, cooking, or eating, I’m immersed in financial statements, ledgers, and spreadsheets at The Richards Group, an advertising agency in Dallas. I’m also an avid road cyclist, love live music, and occasionally pick up my guitar and play until my wife can no longer handle my singing.
Thanks for visiting The World’s Table!
